I taught myself stop frame animation, Adobe Photoshop, iMovie, and Adobe Premier during the first year of the pandemic. I didn’t have internet access so as questions arose I would write them down till I had abut ten to fifteen and would then walk to the cafe nearby to get a tea, sit down, and use their wifi to answer my queries. That year I made Solitary Skies with my partner assisting with the soundtrack. It premiered at VIFF in 2021 which was something I never imagined being a part of and after that fanfare friends started to reach out about creating music vides for their bands. Through these projects I’ve been able to explore different styles of stop frame animation using cut paper, drawing, scanned images and digital manipulation.
